Meds are dangerous!: Transplants that improve the "quality" of life, not the duration of life are ethically challenging. Since all transplants still require the use of medications to suppress the immune system (to prevent rejection of the transplant), the recipient must choose to accept the accompanying risks of the drugs. These include life threatening infections and cancers, among other things.
