Varies: The general indication for scoliosis surgery in the adult patient is having a curvature over the 45-50 degree range. The rationale for surgery for these curves is that they will continue to slowly progress at 1-2degrees per year. Because it is a relatively slow rate, adults do have time to electively schedule their surgery, but should have it done before medical problems prohibit surgery.
