Until better: Most viral infections, including mono, are infectious most at the outset, even before you fall ill. Once you are feeling better, you are usually no longer infectious.

30-50 days: The incubation period of infectious mononucleosis ("mono") is estimated between 30-50 days. Following exposure to an ill contact, it may therefore be weeks until the exposed person develops the typical symptoms of this infection.
