A member asked:

My mom took 150mg of avapro (irbesartan) for hypertension for yrs. her pcp dropped the dosage to 75mg. her bp is averaging 90/60. should she still be taking avapro (irbesartan)?

Call the doctor: That blood pressure- provided your home blood pressure cuff is accurate, they wear out like everything else and can give faulty readings-- is very low. Is your mom getting dizzy or feeling faint? You or she should call her doctor's office and inform them. They will discuss adjusting the dose versus just stopping the medication entirely.
