See below: Irbesartan (avapro) can cause allergic facial swelling (angioedema), low blood pressure, high potassium and decreased white cell counts. It should not be used in females who could become pregnant. In spite of this the drug is often well tolerated and effective in patients with hypertension and will soon be available in generic form.
