Does gastric reflux acid stay in lungs or throat for a long time?

GASTRIC REFLUX: The acid usually comes up to the esophagus and sometimes when lying flat in bed it may regurgitate up to the throat ang irritate trachea and voice box(larynx), thereby causing cough or hoarseness in some cases.It does not get into the lungs.
