Maybe Melatonin: Perhaps melatonin .5 - 1mg nightly would be the "least of evils" to take nightly. Especially in women, taking higher doses may disrupt rather than improve sleep. Also lemon balm or hops as herbs may be helpful. 5-htp can help, and so can magnesium glycinate or other (not magnesium oxide which is common but poorly absorbed and can lead to diarrhea).
