Add 7, subtract 3: If periods have been regular, a missed period occurs, and pregnancy test is positive, a simple way to calculate expected date of confinement (edc) ( anticipated birthdate) is to start with the first day of the last menstrual period. Then add 7 to the day and subtract 3 from the month.
