MRI: An x-ray is usually not helpful at all in cases with symptoms like this. Mris provide much more information. Back pain with pain down the leg(s) and numbness/tingling in the feet is lumbar radiculopathy (pinched nerve in the back) until proven otherwise. Oral Prednisone and nsaids are helpful, but a complete evaluation by a spine specialist (usually pm;r doctor or anesthesiologist) is needed.
