Time: Pleurisy is rarely if ever caused by a bacterial infection. It is simply inflammation in the pleura, and antibiotics are unlikely to do anything other than act as a placebo. Anti-inflammatory treatment (aspirin, Ibuprofen for example) is usually effective. Make sure to see a doctor asap if your symptoms worsen, or if you get severe breathing difficulty.
