Endoscopy benefits: Endoscopy is a sedated optical exam of lining of esophagus, stomach, & upper portion of small intestine. New endoscopic technology permits microscopic inspection, & vital stains &/or specific light band imaging better checks for abnormalities. Inflammatory, infectious, malabsorptive, narrowings, benign tumor & malignant conditions can be identified, biopsied as warranted, & treated when possible.
