There may be: But they may have their own serious side effects. A drug Cisapride (propulcid) promotes gastric emptying but was taken off the market because of the potential for causing heart arrhythmias. However, it is back on the market with black box warnings. Metoclopramide (reglan) has similar properties and potential side effects and is available. The opioids should be at lowest effective dose.
