Nasal Allergies: You can try numerous OTC antihistamines, some which are non sedating. You may also want to try nasal saline sprays or washes which may help also. Humidity may help to unblock your nose.

Antihistamines help: I would recommend an over-the-counter allergy medication such as Allegra-D or Zyrtec (cetirizine). Benedryl is good at night to help you sleep. Sometimes a hot shower will help to clear your nose. If you can find out what pollen causes you to react this way its helpful to avoid it; or wear a mask when you are outdoors. Best Wishes!

Antihistamines: There are allergy medicines available over the counter like antihistamines (loratadine) or decongestants which can be helpful. Some patients respond to using Nettie Pots or saline nasal washes. If these fail, talk to your doctor about other options that require a prescription.

Allergy treatment: Try an over-the-counter antihistamine like benadryl, (diphenhydramine) tavist, chlorpheniramine, zyrtec, claritin, for example. A sterile saline nose drops/spray like Ocean or Ayr used twice a day is also helpful. Please see your primary care physician for a steroid nasal spray or intranasal antihistamine like Astelin. You can use Afrin spray for 3 nights in a row, but no more, if you cannot sleep due to blockage.
