A 45-year-old male asked:
what do i do if my groin hernia keeps popping out?

Push it back: You have a defect in the fibromuscular wall of your abdominal cavity. Your intestine is pushing its way into the opening and you can push it back inside. Eventually you will need this fixed as there is a small risk of strangulation or twisting of the intestine doing this. Surgery will close the defect and prevent the protrusion.

What can I do for my groin hernia without going to a doctor?

Little: A hernia in this area is a separation of the muscles and fibrous tissue which coats the abdominal cavity and keeps the intestinal loops within that cavity. The hernial opening will allow a loop to protrude which can be painful and in extreme cases can cause strangulation. A hernia truss can prevent this but is unpleasant to wear. Unless minor, you probably will need surgery.

How can I treat a groin hernia?

Get an operation!: A hernia repair is the only way to make this better. This is done by a surgeon. Although you could wait and see, the hernia definitely won't get any better, and will probably get worse. Today we do hernias laparoscopically, which get you back to work faster and hurts much less. You should look for a surgeon who repairs hernias this way.
