Hep c: Although I am a heart doctor I am aware of new drugs that have the potential to cure hep c. I will not go in details and perhaps an hepatologist can weigh in. Please speak to your doctor. Good luck.

See hepatologist: Although itching can be a manifestation of liver disease, there are other potential causes. If you have hepatitis c, then you can be treated with the newer generation of drugs with almost 100% chance of cure. See your liver doctor, a hepatologist, to make sure the itching is related to the liver. There are also drugs that can be used to help reduce itching symptoms.

Uncertain : To the degree you have liver dysfunction will determine when/how your liver gets better under treatment. Most people with hepc often have some degree of elevated bilirubin. Which in turn can cause itching. As this gets better w treatment, then so should the itching. Also a disorder called acquired porphyria cutania tarda may contribute and cause itching.
