Life changing: A child with a chronic disfiguring eruption will be shunned and mocked by his classmates. The discomfort of the eczema will create loss of sleep, stress for the child and the family. This leads to negative family bonding, negative self image. This overflows to school, leading classmates and teachers to have increase stress which they bring home. Kid chronic eczema: Chronic inflammation of any type in the skin can be extremely isolating. Kids can be cruel, and constant questioning or worse, ostracization, can be the ultimate cruelty. Being up front with your child is really helpful. Helping them prepare answers to the inevitable questions is necessary, as is humor. The way you react to their skin and its ups and downs will determine how they react.
