High bp with normal bw, thyroid, echo, ekg, and kidneys. taking norvasc (amlodipine). readings range from normal to 150/95 up to 180/120 daily. why so many spikes?

Ambulatory BP: BP normally varies throughout the day, but if you are having variations of more then 20 then you need better BP control. An ambulatory 24hour BP monitor may be helpful. Your doctor may also want to do a duplex ultrasound or mra to check the arteries of your kidneys.
