Gabapentin : Gabapentin (neurontin) is a relatively new anticonvulsant medication. Significant side effects include sedation, dizziness, ataxia and fluid retention. Gabapentin has a short half-life and should be administered on a three times a day schedule. Rec.: see a prescribing physician for medication adjustment and more information.

Weakness: It is a little difficult to differentiate if your weakness is related to the seizure or the treatment you received at the er. Seizures may be followed by tiredness and weakness in the post-ictal period, and may last up to 6-8 hours. The muscle relaxant given could be valium, klonopin, (clonazepam) or any anti epileptic which can produce sedation and weakness for up to 24 hs after administration.
