Surgery complication: Often there will be some expected swelling around the involved joint in meniscal surgery, howevever extension into the upper thigh is a worrisome sign of a possible venous thrombosis. You should immediately go to the emergency room and have this assessed. Surgery, immobility, previous blood clots, certain drugs, family history are risk factors for thrombosis after surgeries/procedures/trauma.
