A member asked:

Can you tell me about cushing's syndrome and pituitary gland removal?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Syndrome vs. Disease: Hi. Cushing's Disease is Cushing's Syndrome specifically due to an ACTH-producing pituitary adenoma. Cushing's Syndrome is any glucocorticoid excess syndrome including a pituitary adenoma, an adrenal tumor (benign or cancer), a cancer paraneoplastic syndrome (cancer secretes ACTH or CRH), or exogenous glucocorticoids. Treatment of Cushing's Disease is removal of the pituitary tumor.
