Yes: Exercise is helpfull to lower cholesterol and keep your weight under control. Aerobic exercise is better than weight lifting. I.

YES: Both aerobic and anaerobic exercise will help in both: lowering LDL bad cholesterol and increasing HDL good cholesterol. Weight lifting, however, could increase your blood pressure while you are doing it. The advise is to start with low weights and increase repetitions. At age 40 you also need to clear this program with your MD.
