A member asked:

At what point should a 3 year old child be medicated for a fever?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Why?: Generally it is unnecessary to medicate to suppress fever, since fever probably has beneficial effects in fighting the cause. You try to reduce body temperatures only when they are making the person or child patently uncomfortable or it is creating stresses on an already compromised system (not likely in a child), or it reaches levels which are injurious to the central nervous system.
