Probably not.: Depression lasting a year or more is probably not bipolar. When depressive episodes last that long the reason needs to be identified whether it is genetic and there is a history or if it is situational. Either if you have been depressed a year you need help identifying a strategy to get better. Please contact a therapist who specializes in depression.

Agree w Dr. Jacobsen: I have seen bouts of depression lasting a year or more in bipolar patients.
