A member asked:

Could a kidney patient of creantine 4.5 travel long distance by flight?

Yes: as long as the patient's blood work has been obtained recently and the electrolytes are within normal limits, a long flight is not contraindicated.

Kidneys almost kaput: Hi. Short term travel is not the issue as much as plans for management of kidney failure. What does your nephrologist say? Unless you have ATN that will recover, you need to be planning for transplant (first choice) or dialysis (distant second choice). What is the etiology of your renal failure? Have a heart-to-heart with your nephrologist. A long flight is not the big picture. Good luck!
