A member asked:

Can you tell me it still doesn't seem clear to me why would the removal of the gall bladder cause diarrhea?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Bile salt laxative: Gallbladder is a pouch that stores bile for release when fatty foods require digestion. After removal, bile travels through the bile duct from the liver to the small intestine and distally. Some of the bile salts is reabsorbed in the last part of the small intestine. Bile salts have a potent laxative action.
