Careful: Although this is somewhat of a generalization, there are primarily two types of soreness you might experience after exercise. One is felt during recovery phase from exercise and is felt to be a product of the lactic acid during anaerobic exercise in particular. The other is a sign of injury. In either case, you would be best to let that particular muscle group rest before exercising it again.
