Therapy: Ask your general practice physician if he or she has recommendations regarding a good therapist. Explain what symptoms you would like to address with therapy. Take care.

Referral: Ask your PCP for referral to a therapist that he/she knows, with good reputation & one that has knowledge about treating cases similar to yours.

Tell your GP: what is bothering you and why you think you may benefit from psychotherapy. Most physicians know a number of therapists and can give you a few referrals to psychologists who specialize in the issues you are struggling with. You could also set up a consult with a psychologist on HealthTap's concierge service.
