It's variable: Some causes: Dying from liver failure varies depending on the person. People can have bleeding from blood vessels in the esophagus (varices) and die from that. Infection can develop in the fluid in the abdomen (ascites) which can result in death. The kidneys can fail (hepatorenal syndrome) and people can die of kidney failure. Sometimes, people can go into a coma and can die.
