Docs, what's best medicine for pain after knee surgery?

Norco (hydrocodone and acetaminophen) or Vicodin.: These are the two that we use. They are very effective, however, they are addictive. We usually prescribe it one time only, with no refills, for almost all of the knee surgery we do.
