A member asked:

How should i get rid of intractable hiccups?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Depends of Duration: Hiccups are caused by the involuntary contractions of th diaphragm. Most cases are brief in duration and go away on their own without treatment. If an underlying medical ailment is responsible, treatment of that illness may eliminate the symptoms. If hiccups last longer than many days, certain medications may be used that are prescribed by a doctor. Hypnosis and acupuncture may be helpful.
