Rest, NSAIDs: Pain from whiplash is generally due to tension and strain of the muscles in the neck. This type of pain can be relieved with rest which gives time for the muscles to recover. NSAIDs like Motrin, Aleve or Tylenol (acetaminophen) can help with muscle pain as well. In more severe cases, consulting with a physical therapist can be useful. Therapists can prescribe exercises and use other treatments like E-stim to help

Ice, nsaids, analges: Ice works very well for new whiplash injuries. Advil, (ibuprofen)alleve, or other anti inflamatories can help. In more painful csae analgesics are used. Sometimes bracing the area can help along with resting the injuried area. Spinal manipulation helps many of these injuries as well.
