Cluster headache: Is the most painful of all the primary headache disorders. Management of a cluster headache can be abortive or prophylactic. An effective abortive treatment uses oxygen at a flow rate of 7-10 liters per minute for 15 minutes and subcutaneous injection of sumatriptan. The treatment of choice for the prevention of both episodic and chronic cluster headache is verapamil (calan).

Cluster : Nerve blocks, triptans, steroid course oxygen are very useful for cluster headaches. Even intranasal Lidocaine can be used. A preventive medication should be added. Cluster headaches are hard to treat and you will need to be in care of a neurologist.
