VARIABLE ONSET: A headache may precede a stroke, but a severe headache may be associated with a thromboembolic stroke and especially a hemorrhagic stroke. Some patients who suffer brain blood flow variations can have headaches secondary, and some patients have ongoing headaches subsequently also. Important to recognize that meds used to prevent strokes can provoke headaches.
