A member asked:

Doctors, what are the 3 structures that protect the eye from mechanical injury?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

More than 3, but: This sounds like an essay question, and the correct answer is probably based on whatever you were studying. The bony orbit is highly protective, including the tough orbital rim. The eyelids are protective, including the blink reflex, and the tear glands and lacrimal gland produce tears which clear away airborne debris and have an intrinsic antibiotic. A case could be made for eyelashes as well.
