A member asked:

At dinner i accidentally inhaled a little baked potato. i'm not sure if i coughed it all out. what are dangers or worriesif there is some in lungs?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Good cough helps: If you were able to produce a good cough you probably got it all out. Inhaling food can lead to what is called aspiration pneumonia and/or a chemical reaction in the lung if you are concerned and/or having symptoms (fever, foul smelling cough and phlegm production) you might do well to seek immediate medical attention from a physician who can perform a chest x-ray and do a physical exam.
