It's ethical now: There was a time that doctors hid these things from patients. Then they told some patients who they regarded as strong. Now, it's considered the right thing to do since patients have a right to know about themselves. If you really don't - tell the doctor to write it clearly on your chart. You might have to sign and date the request to be kept in the dark. A therapist may help w/ the anxiety. Best!

It can be the cause: Cancer is a common disease, so when people have serious symptoms that are persistent, then there is always some concern that cancer can be the cause, so it has to be looked into and that requires imaging x-rays/scans particulalrly in deeper parts of the body like abdomen and head.
