A member asked:

What percentage of the time does a prostate biopsy come back positive for cancer?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

30-50%: With proper "screening, " most reports suggest a 30-50% positive biopsy result (currently with 10-12 cores obtained). Newer technology/approaches such as MRI mapping/guidance, confirmdx, "saturation" biopsies (26-32 cores) are increasing the "+" bx rate. With all of these comes increased cost and risk, however.
