Second opinion: When you are diagnosed with a medical condition it is your right to seek a second opinion. It will give you the confidence, reassurance, piece of mind and freedom of choice for the further action. Many medical insurance companies, hospitals and medical offices encourage their patients to get a second opinion. It is priceless! good luck.

Not Rude : Each MD has his own set of skills and practice expertise. If you believe someone else may provide a better solution for you, you certainly may seek out that care. I would let your primary know your plans. It is not necessary to inform the pain doctor personally, but do let his scheduler know you will not make any currently scheduled follow up. This is basic respect for his/her schedule.
