Definition of Rest: When one is ill physicians recommend rest and hydration. The dictionary definition of rest is "to not work'. In my practice, mostly of men, i expand the definition to be "to not work out'. No. It is straining your body to be ill. Rest and recovery are vital when you are ill so working out puts too much strain on the system. Once you are well on your way to healing then you can add exercise back.
