Not a good idea: Although most drugs may remain active even 2 yrs after the expiration date, it is not a good idea for you to treat yourself with an antibiotic prescribed for someone else. In addition, it is best to take a full course of the prescribed antibiotic and you would not have enough for another complete course if you only take the left-over. You need to see your doctor first.

Not as effective: Medicine looses potency after its efficacy. Also if you do not have enough for a full course of antibiotic you will only partially treat the current infection and it can develop resistance to the antibiotic.
