I have braces will my gap close even with a large frenum?

Ask Orthodontist: Traditionally orthodontists will close spaces and, if necessary, refer you for limited revisional gum surgery to help stabilize the tooth movement. Please ask your orthodontic specialist to discuss this with you. Space management is part of the overall treatment plan.

Frenectomy: should be considered only after closing the gap with braces. Good luck and be patient.

Frenum space.: Closing a space between the front teeth (diastema) is not hard to do, even with a large frenum. However, once the space is closed, the orthodontist needs to determine whether or not a frentectomy is best to remove the large frenum (which could cause the space to re-open). Again, that is up to the treating orthodontist.

Frenectomy: is likely part of the solution. its easy, fast and relatively painless when done with a laser. We do these in our office all the time. Good luck!
