Lipomas don't infect: If you are going to apply cold compresses , lipoma is not the one your doctor thinking of, most likely a sebacious cyst with impending infection. Go back to your doctor , if it is he will drains it ( i&d) you will have relief from pain.

Probably not lipoma: Lipomas don't hurt or become infected, so there is something else going on. Does your doctor know you are still in pain? If not, you should go back, or at least call. It might be an abscess (localized infection) or a ruptured epidermal cyst, among other things.
