TMJ/Muscle Problems: You may also have a TMJ or muscle dysfunction problem that is getting worse. There are times that a bionator (one type of function orthopedic appliance) may be of great help especially when using for sleeping as well as when you can during the day. This tends to retrain and heal the muscles to help them function normally. Find a dentist that is familiar with TMJ ; use of a bionator.

TMJ dentist, Pain Dr: There are a few healthcare practitioners you may see in the future. First, visit your dentist to rule out any dental abscess. If your dentist has advanced education in TMJ and orofacial (mouth/face) pain, s/he may suggest another appointment to run more diagnostic work/treatment. If not, be referred to someone with training. Drs specializing in pain management may offer you good referrals, too.
