Eye herpes: The herpes virus can reactivate on the eye. It does not usually cause a fever blister, unless the eyelid itself is involved. On the eye, it can cause redness and a very distinctive corneal infection called herpetic keratitis. It is usually not severely painful, but can cause redness, a scratchy sensation, and blurred vision. Treatment is by an ophthalmologist with antiviral medications.
