Mole Removal Surgery: Most moles are either removed totally especially if small or if very large a "punch biopsy" at one of the edges is done for diagnosis to make sure it is not a melanoma and if it is then the depth/stage it is. In all cases moles are sent to the pathologist to get a microspopic examination as the standard of care.
