Determine cause 1st: Most of the time cough can cause rib pain fro the trauma of coughing. One needs to determine the cause of the coug as well. Occ someone will fracture a rib from a severe cough. Talk to your doctor and deterimne cause of the cough and they may prescribe an anti inflammatory medication for this.
