Gum disease?: Try some orajel on your gums and call your dentist asap. You might also try flossing gently - you might have something stuck between the teeth in that area that is causing the irritation. Good luck! i know how painful that can be.

Evaluation: Have a local dentist evaluate the problem. It may be something as simple as the need for a cleaning to remove calculus deposits, or it may be periodontal disease... Impossible to diagnose without seeing you and a radiograph of the area. Don't delay... Amke an appointment and feel better soon.
