Herpes: First thing to know about herpes is that the infection is permanent. Having a sore is a good thing only as far as now you know where you may be contagious. Contagiousness, however, can be high when you don't have a sore and low when you have a sore and vice versa. 90% of those with herpes do not have outbreaks but can still be contagious.
