Anti-inflammatories: It would be very unusual for a jammed finger to require strong pain killers. I'f you don't have pain relief with over the counter anti-inflammatories such as Motrin or aleve (naproxen) then you should get evaluated and have an x-ray done. More pain from a jammed finger can be a sign if tendon damage or a fracture.
