Viral infection: Try an otc nasal spray such as afrin or Neo-Synephrine for 3 days only and a decongestant such as sudafed (pseudo-ephedrine) for 7 days. If the ears remain blocked for more than 2 weeks, then consult an ENT doctor. The symptoms are consistent with an upper respiratory tract viral infection.
